We spent Fall Break weekend in Madison, IN at Clifty Falls State Park. I’ve wanted to stay here for years but the location, timing, and inn availability never quite worked out until now.
We start hiking Friday morning after a buffet breakfast. It takes us a couple hours of fairly rugged hiking and a creek crossing before we view Clifty Falls. I love waterfalls and enjoy watching the cascading water. We also see Little Clifty Falls, Tunnel Falls and Hoffman Falls on our walk back. The autumn colors are pretty with many shades of yellow and gold on display.
My husband and I explore a bit of downtown Madison. What a charming river town! We eat a light lunch at Red Pepper Deli and Cafe. Quaint shops to browse include Little Golden Fox, The Attic and Something Simple. I make more progress on Christmas shopping. We also explore an antique store and the Galena Garlic Company. Now I have a new combination of olive oil and balsamic vinegar to try.
I highly recommend Madison, IN as a charming weekend get away!
