New Thing #28 – Big Four Pedestrian Bridge

We visited our college son in Louisville for the weekend and actually did a new thing – walked the Big Four Pedestrian Bridge. The bridge spans from Louisville, KY to Jeffersonville, IN.  The complete bridge, including ramps, spans 1 mile for a 2 mile round trip walk.  Our boys had already run (literally) across the bridge during a scavenger hunt as part of Bellarmine family weekend in the fall of 2013.  The Louisville ramp and bridge were open then but not the ramp to Jeffersonville.  The final portion opened in May 2014 so the complete bridge has been open less than a year when we take our walk. It is a nice way to visit and see some scenery.  We can see evidence of the recent Ohio River flooding from excess rain.  Lots of people are walking and enjoying a pleasant spring day.  Good family experience!
