One of my “New Things” during my 50th year was getting my two sisters to join me for a sisters’ weekend away. This year, we have our second annual Sister Trip to Dresden, Ohio which is between Akron and Indianapolis.
We stay at Sarah’s House B&B with the most charming hosts. Steve and Tina are a sweet couple who graciously welcome us into their Victorian Home. In addition to a yummy breakfast, Sarah’s House also serves dessert at 8:30 pm. We enjoy Steve’s cheesecake (the best ever) and peach cobbler over the two nights of our stay.
Dresden is the home of the Longaberger Basket company and most of the shops carry baskets and related accessories. We shop in Dresden our first day and I am happy to find a couple Christmas gifts. We enjoy shopping in Miller’s Emporium which is owned by our hosts.
Our second day, we browse and shop in Roscoe Village, an historic canal town about 20 minutes from Dresden. The shops are very nice and quaint. I find more Christmas gifts and we all add to our scarf collection. (OK – I’m the one with a collection and got my sisters started last year.)
We also visit the Longaberger Homestead but only buy a couple things there. Unfortunately, the company is struggling so we hope things turn around and the quality returns.
Both nights of our stay, we eat at the Longaberger Overlook Restaurant at their golf course. The food is very good and the view is beautiful. We are there for the sunset the first night and it is gorgeous!
The only bad part is that we forgot to take a sister photo…
